Centipede
February 8 - 12, 2022
Undergraduate exhibition at the Anna Leonowens Gallery

Masse investigates craft techniques passed down from mother to daughter through motherhood and insects. Colour, texture, and movement are explored through large-scale soft sculpture, a 13-metre long centipede mother with over 100 legs. After the exhibition, her young will be spread across the world; each egg will be rehomed far away from her warm clutch.
"Everything is labour of my love; my hand touched every centimetre of yarn as I sculpted it into a subiect. My hand mixed every chemical I dyed and hand-printed. My hands touched every part of the fabric as I reworked it with found objects.”
