Frog Purse

Materials:
purse clasp (mine was 16cm wide)
medium weight acrylic yarn in 2 colours, I used Soft Classic Solid Yarn by Loops and Threads (100% Acrylic, 7oz/198g, 354 yd/324m, medium (4) - I used about 1/4 a ball of green and 1/4 a ball of brown)
a bit of cotton fabric if you choose to do a lining
safety eyes (mine are 16mm)
approx 2 feet of chain (if you choose to add chain)
4.5mm crochet hook
yarn needle
scissors
needle and matching thread
stitch markers
Key
ch - chain
slst - slip stitch
sc - single crochet
hdc - half double crochet
hdc2tog - half double crochet 2 together
inc - increase
Body (make 2)
(For the top I just switched colours at random stitches to get a spotted look. The bottom is 2 colours and the switch is indicated before row 6)
ch10
row 1 - ch1, hdc9, hdc4 in the last ch, (turn around and start crocheting up the other side of the ch) hdc9, hdc4 in the last ch, slst into the 1st st (26)
row 2 - ch1, hdc9, hdc inc in the next 4 sts, hdc9, hdc inc in the last 4 sts, slst into the 1st st (34)
row 3 - ch1, hdc9, (hdc1, hdc inc) repeat 4 times, hdc9, (hdc1, hdc inc) repeat 4 times, slst into the 1st st (42)
row 4 - ch1, hdc9, (hdc inc, hdc2) repeat 4 times, hdc9, (hdc inc, hdc2) repeat 4 times, slst into the 1st st (50)
row 5 - ch1, hdc9, (hdc3, hdc inc) repeat 4 times, hdc9, (hdc3, hdc inc) repeat 4 times, slst into the 1st st (58)
(change colour if you’re doing the belly)
row 6 - ch1, hdc9, (hdc inc, hdc4) repeat 4 times, hdc9, (hdc inc, hdc4) repeat 4 times, slst into the 1st st (66)
row 7-8 - ch1, hdc66, slst into the 1st st (66)
tie and cut ends
Toes (make 12)
start with magic circle or ch2, slst into the 1st ch (you will be crocheting in the round)
row 1 - ch1, hdc4 into the circle, slst into the 1st st (4)
row 2-3 - ch1, hdc4, slst into the 1st st (4)
tie and cut ends
Front Legs (make 2)
you will need 3 toes per leg
insert your hook into one of the toes folded in half and slst across all 3 toes, there is 2 slst per toe (see video tutorial for more clarification)
row 1 - ch1, hdc6 in the black of the slst’s, turn your work then hdc6 across the front of the slst’s, slst into the 1st st (12)
row 2 - ch1, (hdc2tog, hdc1) repeat 4 times, slst into the 1st st (8)
row 3-4 - ch1, hdc8, slst into the 1st st (8)
stuff with a bit of polyfil, now you’re going shut the open end of the leg by doing a ch1, sc4
row 1 - ch1, hdc4 into the sc4 we did last row then turn your work and place 4 hdc across the top of the foot to form a leg, slst into the 1st st (8)
row 2 - ch1, hdc8, slst into the 1st st (8)
tie off and leave a long tail for sewing
Back Legs (make 2)
you will need 3 toes per leg
